Where does one start to notify of the death of Chris Duckett (CJ)?
He passed away peacefully last week (10th January 2025) but his fellowship & humour will long be remembered as just a few of his many endearing traits.
Chris joined the Lower School in Lower IIIC (Sterndale) in 1967 before completing his education in VI Modern. During his College days he was scrum half in Rugby XV (1st XV colours); Victorious Captain of Brook’s House Rugby Cup; Athletics team winning 200m (1973), Sgt in CCF, member of the Debating Society and Film Club.
After leaving LC in 1974 he joined Midland Bank where he eventually met his future wife, Cath at Castle Street branch. Various jobs followed at London Scottish & in the leasing industry but over the last 35 years he has been working in various roles with the same group of companies. He was a magistrate in the local courts, served on the Old Lerpoolian Society committee from the 1980's for many years and was a member of the Old Lerpoolian Lodge, being WM in 2002. A season ticket holder and life-long supporter of Liverpool FC; a member of Waterloo RUFC; great supporter of both Sale RUFC & would travel to watch England at Twickenham & abroad.
He leaves behind his loving wife Cath, children Jonathan & Nicola, proud grandfather to Emilia & Lennon. Beloved brother of Ann Pennington.
Funeral on Wednesday 5th Feb, 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wrightington WN6 9PA and then wake is at Wrightington Hotel WN6 9PB round the corner from 11.45/12pm onwards. There are room discounts available if people travelling would like to stay overnight (please contact hotel direct quoting the Duckett event), traditional black and white ….. Chris Duckett flamboyant style socks are not compulsory, but encouraged!
