In September 2021 the Liverpool branch of the Classical Association was relaunched after a long period of inactivity. The aim of the branch is to provide a programme of free public lectures covering a wide variety of topics relating to the ancient world. The talks are held in a variety of different schools across the city, including at Liverpool College. In the first year we held 3 in person events, with talks by Dr Stephe Harrop, Dr Andy Fear and the inaugural lecture from our new President, broadcaster, author and public historian Michael Wood, who revisited his journey tracing the footsteps of Alexander the Great. In 2022-23 we are running a full programme of 8 events (Sept-April) including cohosting the annual Postgate lecture at Liverpool University. Our next event is Dr Hannah Cornwell on Augustus on 19th January, followed by Prof Chris Carey on 23 February on Politics and Theatre in Classical Athens (at Liverpool College). Michael Wood returns in April. Further details about the Liverpool Classical Association and other branches in the NW, including all our events and how to attend can be found here CA North (classicsforallnorth.org.uk)
