The Rt Hon Jake Berry, who was educated at the College during the 1980s and 1990s, and who is the Conservative MP for Darwen and Rossendale in East Lancashire, has declined a new position in the recent Cabinet re-shuffle. With three small children, Jake has decided that the amount of travelling abroad, which his new position would entail, is not compatible with raising a young family and so he has stepped down from government. Jake was guest of honour at the Lerpoolian Dinner held in Liverpool last October and his passion for all things "North" was evident to all present. We congratulate him on the latest addition to his family.
