Jimmy Ratter (click to read more)

I remember Jimmy well as when I was Captain of Swimming at the college in the summer of 1951, he was a stalwart of the team as the long plunger! MiC of swimming was Mr MCA Spencer (AHM Brooks) and the team was full of Brooks members i.e. Myself, Ian Cameron, , Brian Jervis, David Pope, David Walker and of course Ratter. Others who got their colours were Bidston and Ian Bell. We had two matches, versus Rydal away and home against King George VI home. Jimmy won the plunge in both and also at the sports day. For the first few weeks we trained at Picton road baths then in the open air pool at the College. I believe Jimmy succeeded me as Captain of Swimming the following year.
