Founded in 1840, author and alumnus, Ken Siviter, brings the history of Liverpool College up to date when the College celebrated its 175th anniversary.
The author sets out in concise chapters the key principles behind the founding of the school together with the background to the relocation of the school through the decades from its roots in Shaw Street to Mossley Hill via Lodge Lane. Fascinating pictures and brief "pen-portraits" featuring prominent alumni provide magnificent illustrations throughout the book.
Other chapters review life beyond the classroom, including the CCF, the Houses and the spiritual life of the College.
With further chapters on the Principals and Headmasters, Liverpool Ladies and the alumni organisation, the book is an engaging read and will be of great use to whoever writes the history of Liverpool College's first 200 years!
