As trailed earlier this year, we are planning an Anniversary Dinner on Saturday 7 November for alumni who left in the few years around 1971. We held a 25th, 40th, 45th and 50th and now another five years have trickled (sped?) past, so it's time for another session at the Athenaeum!
The provisional schedule is:
Friday 6 November: 6 pm onwards – meet at the Vines pub in Lime Street, near the Adelphi. Recommended by our resident local pub expert, Neville Grundy.
Saturday 7 November:
9 am: run, bike, or walk the 3¼ mile nostalgia loop round Sefton Park. Meet at the Memorial Gates at the main playing fields entrance.

1 pm: A Walk Through Time: History of Liverpool Walking Tour. 1h50min. Starts at the Liver Building. £20 pp. Please book online via A Walk Through Time: History of Liverpool Walking Tour
You can cancel any time before 6 November. I couldn't get a bespoke tour this time, but this one looks interesting. Let me know if you book so I can keep track.
7 pm: Dinner at the Athenaeum Club, Church Alley, Liverpool, L1 3DD. Finishes at 11 pm
Cost £101 pp including half a bottle of wine pp (alcoholic or non-alcoholic).

Sunday 8 November
It will be Remembrance Sunday – Mike Askham is helping me find out, but the College CCF will be doing something. Maybe not the march with the band down Queens Drive like we had before, but a parade and chapel service. More details when available.

It’s hard to believe, but 55 years have passed since we walked the halls of Liverpool College. Five and a half decades of life, laughter, challenges, and achievements have shaped us into who we are today. While our paths may have diverged, the common bond of the Class of 1971 remains strong. This is a truly significant milestone, and we are thrilled to invite you to our 55th Anniversary Reunion Dinner—the centrepiece of our weekend celebrations—to honour the friendships and shared experiences that define our past and continue to enrich our lives.
The crown jewel of our gathering will be a formal dinner on Saturday evening at the historic Athenaeum Club. This august venue provides the perfect, elegant setting for us to raise a glass, share a meal, and celebrate five and a half decades of camaraderie. It promises to be an unforgettable evening of good food, fine wine, and incredible stories, giving every member of our class the opportunity to reconnect where it matters most.
To make your trip back to the city even more worthwhile, we have wrapped a fantastic itinerary around Saturday’s main event:
Friday Evening: We kick off the weekend with informal drinks at the quintessential Liverpool pub, The Vines on Lime Street, offering the ideal chance to break the ice.
Weekend Explorations: Across the weekend, you can join us for a guided walking tour delving into the rich history of Liverpool’s city centre, or enjoy a nostalgic stroll around the perimeter of Sefton Park.
Sunday Remembrance: On Sunday, Liverpool College’s CCF will hold its Remembrance Parade, including a service in the school chapel. Anyone who wishes to attend is very welcome to come along. Full details aren't available yet, but keep watching this space for updates.

These fringe events offer extra moments to reflect and explore, but the Athenaeum dinner remains the heart of it all.
